The Story of Kaplehu
The Ka--plehu lava flow of 1801 started above 5,500 to 6,000 feet on Huallai and flowed to the sea. Pele met two girls, P-hinahina and Kolomuo, roasting breadfruit here. Only P-hina-hina shared her breadfruit. That night Huallai erupted near Huehue and destroyed the village, but spared the home of P-hina-hina.
